The authors hypothesized that coping strategy, loneliness, and sleep quality had significant effects on symptoms of depression in students during the Covid-19 pandemic. The population in this study was students who domiciled in Greater Jakarta and were undergoing online lectures during the Covid-19 pandemic. A sample of 203 students were recruited using purposive sampling. The measuring instrument consisted of the Beck Depression Inventory-II scale, The Brief COPE scale, the De Jong Gierveld Loneliness Scale, and The Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index scale. We tested the validity of the instrument using the Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) technique. The data were analyzed using multiple regression techniques. The results of hypothesis testing indicated that four variables, namely problem-focused coping, emotional loneliness, social loneliness, and sleep quality, significantly influenced symptoms of depression. This studys results showed significant effects of coping strategy, loneliness, and sleep quality on depression symptoms in college students during the Covid-19 pandemic, 52.3%. Meanwhile, avoidant, emotionfocused, and socially-supported coping did not significantly affect students depression symptoms during the Covid-19 pandemic. |
| Menopause Depression Management Through Self-Esteem Development | Author : Sarika Ashish Ghate, Vikas S Minchekar, Dean Zulmi Airlangga | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract :In our culture, it is an established myth that menopausal depression is normal for every woman. However, the fact can differ from this common misconception. Women who suffer from it go through dramatic mental changes. Hence, she should get the same attention as any other medical illness. In this study, the researcher tried to find ways to decrease menopausal depression by fostering her self-esteem. The study aimed to find the correlation between depression and self-esteem during menopause among women. A sample of 30 women was collected by purposive sampling from Kolhapur City. The selfesteem scale developed by Singh and Srivastava and depression scale developed by Thakur and Singh were administered to the sample. After calculating row scores, the correlation was found using the product moment method. A negative and significant correlation was found between depression and selfesteem. So women who have high self-esteem will have a low level of depression, and vice versa if the self-esteem is low, the woman will quickly feel depressed. |
| Abu Zayd Al-Balkhis Perspective on Depression: Countering Sadness with Cognitive Theory in the Book of Mashalih al Abdan wa al Anfus | Author : Jarman Arroisi, Novita Najwa Himaya | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract :Depression is one of the most common mental illnesses today. Due to the considerable influence of depression in daily activities, sufferers experience deep sadness and grief and even take solutions by suicide. Although some doctors and psychologists have presented many solutions, depression is still a rampant mental illness at any time. In this case, a Muslim psychologist of Afghanistan origin named Abu Zayd Al-Balkhi, explained the various causes of depression followed by its symptoms and factors. Not spared from symptoms and factors, Al Balkhi also explained the steps and solutions for people with depression. The method used by Al-Balkhi that has never been done by Muslim psychologists before is with cognitive theory. Regarding depression, Al Balkhis discussion was supported by earlier Islamic scholars who also wrote in his work on the prevention of grief (depression). This study used a literature study by collecting data and information on the importance of depression prevention and how to treat people with depression. The results of this study explain how important a person is in enduring feelings of sadness and loss that will result in depression. |
| The Effect of Secondary Care Intensity and Parental-Stress Toward Children Social-Emotional Development | Author : Muhammad Azka Maulana, Benedikta Yunita, Aip Syarifudin | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract :This study aims to determine the effect of the intensity of secondary caregiver and parental stress on the socio-emotional development of early childhood secondary care intensity is the frequency of care where the other party cares more often than the biological parents. Here in after, parental stress is a condition where the primary care, in this case, the father or mother, experiences exhaustion in parenting. As of, there are two independent variables (secondary care intensity and parental stress) and a dependent variable (early childhood social-emotional development) with a linear regression technique. The secondary-caregiver intensity was measured based on self-reports from parents who reported the average daily routine regarding the intensity of care levels (whether more frequent primary or secondary care?). Furthermore, parental stress was measured using the parental role quality scale instrument to parents. Then, the measurement of childrens social-emotional development is based on instruments from the Ages & Stages Questionnaire: Social-Emotional (ASQ: SE). The sample of this research was all parents of kindergarden X, and it was conducted by purposive sampling method. The use of statistical calculations that have been carried out with the linear regression method. The results showed that there was a significant effect of secondary care intensity and parental stress on childrens social-emotional development using the ASQ: SE instrument. With this research, the author hopes that there will be further and in-depth research on social-emotional development with various other variables as well as conducting path analysis techniques in looking for a causal relationship between the intensity of secondary caregiver, parental stress, and social-emotional development of early childhood. |
| Social Support and Self Efficacy Islamic Students in Online Learning | Author : Melisa Paulina | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract :During the online learning period there are obstacles and obstacles faced by students, even so learning must still be carried out, so students are expected to be able to convince themselves to be able to achieve online learning goals. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of social support on selfefficacy in Islamic students. This study used a quantitative approach with a sample of 410 students, with 124 male students and 286 female students. The general self-efficacy scale-12 (GSES-12) developed by Bosscher & Smit (1998) is used by researchers to measure self-efficacy, and the multidimensional scale of perceived social support (MSPSS) created by Zimet et al. (1988) researchers used to measure social support. Test the validity of the construct measurement on each variable was carried out after data collection and before data analysis. In testing the validity of measuring instruments, researchers used confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) (Muthen & Muthen, 2017). Hypothesis testing was carried out using the software SPSS Version 24. The results showed a significance value of .000 (p < .05) thus, there was a significant influence between social support on the self-efficacy of Islamic students in online learning. The results of the regression analysis test obtained an R Square of .152 or 15.2% on the effect of social support on self-efficacy in Islamic students in online learning. |
| The Effect of Procrastination and Goal Orientation on Academic Dishonesty Moderated by Self-Efficacy in Postgraduate | Author : Isna Mutmainah | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract :This unethical behavior occurs because of the mindset of each individual, if the individual thinks everyone is cheating, then they will tend to cheat. This study aims to see the effect of procrastination and goal orientation on academic dishonesty in post-graduate moderated by self-efficacy. The scale used for the data collection is the academic dishonesty scale by Bashir & Bala, the self-efficacy scale by Schwarzer & Jerusalem, the procrastination scale by Chun Chu & Choi, and the goal orientation scale by Button et al. The sampling technique used is nonprobability sampling with accidental sampling, which uses a Google form with a sample of 212. The construct validity test in this study is confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), while the hypothesis test uses moderated regression analysis (MRA). The results show a significant effect of self-efficacy, procrastination, and goal orientation (learning goal orientation and performance goal orientation) on academic dishonesty, and there is a significant effect of procrastination and goal orientation (learning goal orientation and performance goal orientation) on academic dishonesty moderated by self-efficacy. There is a significant effect of procrastination on academic dishonesty moderated by self-efficacy, there is an insignificant effect of learning goal orientation on academic dishonesty moderated by self-efficacy, and there is an insignificant effect of performance goal orientation on academic dishonesty moderated by self-efficacy. Further research can examine other variables impacting academic dishonesty, such as self-esteem, religiosity, and social support. |
| The Effect of Strength-Based Parenting, Religious Commitment, Demographic Factors Mediated by Positive Affect on Students Character Strength | Author : Dewitri Ulfha Ratnasari | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract :This study aims to determine the effect of strength-based parenting and religious commitment on students character strengths mediated by positive affect. This study uses quantitative methods. The sampling technique was a non-probability and purposive sampling technique. The subjects of this study were 484 students of Senior High School X. The scale used is VIA-72, SBP scale, MUDRAS, and NAPAS. Data were analyzed by path analysis technique using Lisrel 8.80. Based on the results of the analysis showed that the model "the influence of strength-based parenting and religious commitment on the strength of students character is mediated by positive affect" fits the data. Positive affect acts as a mediator for the dimensions of strength-based parenting use, engaging in bodily worship of Allah, and recommended acts except for strength-based parenting knowledge and sinful acts. Parents can start bonding-based parenting by keeping a diary of the strengths their children use on a daily basis, mapping out the strengths of each family member, and asking questions about the strengths their children have. |
| The Kaffah of Islamic Scale: Development and Validation | Author : Ilmi Amalia, Achmad Syahid, Ikhwan Lutfi, Wahyu Saputra | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract :Prudent study and analysis of the religiosity instruments that have been circulating it are found that there are many variations of instruments measuring the religiosity of Muslims. This is due to differences in the conceptual constructs used by the researchers as the basis for developing such instruments. The use of concepts and instruments that are not based on Islamic religiosity has the potential to distance the measuring instrument from what psychological behavior to be measured, while the measuring instrument based on Islamic religiosity is also not yet fully solid, in line, and be close to each other with Islam. Dissatisfaction with the instruments based on the constructs and instruments of Islamic religiosity that have been compiled has encouraged researchers to develop religious instruments based on Islamic teachings in a precise and solid manner. This instrument is called the Kaffah of Islamic Scale (KIS). The results of the psychometric test and empirical data show that the Kaffah of Islamic Scale (KIS) has a good factor structure through the testing phase of the unidimensional fit model. The Kaffah of Islamic Scale (KIS) measuring instrument consists of five dimensions, namely belief, formal ritual, interpersonal, personal, and morality. There are 33 valid items to measure the Islamic construct of the kaffah composed of five items representing the belief dimension, six items representing the formal dimension of ritual, thirteen items representing interpersonal relationships, twelve items representing the personal dimension, and three items representing the morality dimension. Overall, the results of this research provide preliminary evidence to support the use of the Kaffah of Islamic of Scale (KIS) as a measurement tool that has conceptual and psychometric strengths. |
